"Allie's Adventure on the Wonder" by Erika Lynn Adams Receives the Literary Titan Gold Book Award
Author Erika Lynn Adams proudly announces that her debut novel, Allie’s Adventure on the Wonder, has been awarded the Literary Titan Book Gold Award, recognizing its profound storytelling, authentic voice, and creative reimagining of a classic tale through the lens of lived experience.
In Allie’s Adventure on the Wonder, readers meet fourteen-year-old Allie Little, a girl diagnosed with Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) who struggles to make sense of a world that often feels like nonsense. During a school field trip aboard a ferry named the Wonder, Allie encounters an eccentric new friend and discovers that the very confusion she battles daily may also be the source of her creativity, resilience, and joy. Reimagined through the whimsical, sometimes maddening world of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, this contemporary fairy tale offers both children and adults a deeply moving story about identity, loneliness, and acceptance.
The Literary Titan Book Review praised the novel as “a strange mix of fairy tale, diary, and survival story,” applauding Adams for capturing “the raw reality of a teenage girl navigating life with Auditory Processing Disorder” with sharp, authentic, and emotionally resonant writing. Reviewers highlighted the novel’s balance of humor, tenderness, and vulnerability, noting that it “sticks with you, because it makes you sit with discomfort and then find beauty in it.”
A semi-autobiographical work drawn from the author’s personal experiences with APD, the novel explores what it means to feel misunderstood and to find belonging in a world that doesn’t always slow down to listen. Adams’ blend of imaginative storytelling and emotional honesty makes this book both a tribute to Carroll’s timeless classic and a vital, contemporary tale about learning to embrace one’s unique way of experiencing life.
