The Heart of Generosity at 902 Church

Kinston, United States - November 3, 2025 / 902 Church /

At 902 Church in Kinston, generosity is more than a seasonal theme. It’s a way of life. They believe that true generosity reflects God’s character and love, shaping how people live, serve, and connect with others. It isn’t limited to financial giving but extends to sharing time, compassion, and encouragement.

The heart of 902 Church is to help people find and follow Jesus, and generosity plays an important part in that goal. Every act of kindness, every volunteer hour, and every shared meal helps others see God’s grace in action. Whether it’s greeting guests on a Sunday morning, serving with a local outreach, or simply listening to someone in need, the church family continually finds ways to give of themselves for the sake of others.

Giving Back as an Act of Worship

Part of living generously also means trusting God through tithing. At 902 Church, giving financially is viewed as an act of obedience and worship; a way to honor God with what He has provided. Tithing allows the church to continue serving the community, supporting ministries, and meeting practical needs, while also reminding each giver that everything ultimately belongs to God. When done as an act of worship, the focus isn’t on the amount but on the heart behind the gift. Generosity through tithing, like serving or volunteering, is one of the many ways the church family grows together in faith and obedience.

How Generosity Shapes the Church Family

Generosity strengthens the bonds within the church community and creates an atmosphere of belonging. It invites people to come as they are and experience the joy of being part of something bigger than themselves.

Generosity That Builds Community

Generosity at 902 Church reaches far beyond Sunday mornings. It takes shape in the way people give their time, talents, and care to others, creating a community where no one feels alone. Each week, that spirit is seen through small groups, ministries, and events that bring people together and remind them they belong. From greeting families as they arrive to volunteering with the 902 Kids team, every act of service helps someone feel valued and known. And generosity doesn’t stop at the church doors. It continues in everyday life by acts of kindness like checking on a neighbor, sharing a meal, or offering encouragement to someone who needs it. Living generously is an ongoing reflection of faith, a way for the 902 Church family to respond to God’s love by extending that same love to others in practical, meaningful ways.

Serving Through Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child

A Hands-On Way to Show Love

This year, 902 Church is partnering with Samaritan’s Purse for Operation Christmas Child National Collection Week as a central drop-off location for all local churches and collection sites.

Every day from November 17th to 24th, the church will be open to receive shoeboxes from area churches and collection sites. Volunteers will help sort and prepare the boxes for shipment to one of the national processing centers. These shoeboxes carry hope, love, and the message of Jesus to children around the world.

This is a great opportunity for the 902 Church family to support a global ministry in a tangible way. They need volunteers to help during the designated drop-off times. Anyone interested can sign up for one or more days, and a staff member will follow up with more details. It’s a simple but powerful way to serve others and make a lasting impact.

Celebrating the Season of Giving

The holiday season is a time when generosity naturally comes to life. For 902 Church, it’s a reminder of God’s greatest gift, His Son, Jesus Christ. As Christmas approaches, the church community is encouraged to reflect on that gift and look for ways to share it with others.

A Church That Gives Together

From community outreach to Sunday worship, generosity is what makes 902 Church thrive. Every event, volunteer effort, and act of service is another opportunity to share the love of Jesus with the world. Whether it’s through a warm welcome, a helping hand, or a prayer offered at just the right moment, the people of 902 Church continue to show what it means to give from the heart.
